Our EYFS & Key Person Approach
At Buttercup preschool, everything we do is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five years.
The EYFS helps to ensure that every child receives a high-quality, well-rounded early education. We use to plan engaging activities, support children's development, and track their progress in a way that is meaningful and appropriate for their age.
Our approach is centred around learning through play. We provide a balance of child-led and adult supported experiences, following children's interests while gently guiding their development across all areas of learning. We focus on building confidence, independence, communication skills and a love of learning.
A key part of our practice is the key person approach. Every child at Buttercup preschool is assigned a key person who builds close, trusting relationships with them and their families.
Your child's key person will help you child settle in and feel safe and secure, get to know your child's interests, strengths and needs, plan activities to support their development, monitor progress and share regular updates with you and be your main point of contact for any questions or support.
We understand how important it is for children to feel emotionally secure, and having a consistent, caring adult helps them to build confidence and thrive within the setting.
We work closely in partnership with parents and carers, sharing observations, celebrating achievements, and supporting children's learning both at preschool and at home. Through on online learning journal, you'll be able to see regular updates, photos and special moments from your child's time with us, as well as track their progress and share your own experiences from home.
At Buttercup preschool, we aim to create a warm, supportive environment where every child feels valued, included and encouraged to reach their full potential.
